"We shall individually be held responsible for doing one jot less than we have ability to do...But when we give ourselves wholly to God, and in our work follow His directions, He makes Himself responsible for its accomplishment. He would not have us conjecture as to the success of our honest endeavors. Not once should we even think of failure. We are to cooperate with One who knows no failure." ~Messages to Young People, p. 309

God is Awesome!

Hi everyone! Lately I've been reading through the book of Psalms, and have been surprised at how much the word "awesome" is used. That got me thinking...in what other situations does the word "awesome" appear in the Bible? I hope you'll have an awesome time learning about "awesome" in the Bible!

  • What Jacob was running away from home, he had to sleep outside with only a stone for a pillow. That's when he had the dream which we know refer to as "Jacob's ladder". When he awoke, he declared that place "awesome" because God had been there. See Genesis 28 for details.
  • The statue in Nebuchadnezzar dream looked awesome--look up Daniel 2 to confirm.
  • God is awesome in glory--Exodus 15.
  • God performs awesome deeds and wonders (Exodus 34, Deuteronomy 4 & 10)
  • God is awesome. See Duet. 7.
But really, it all boils down to that last point. God is awesome. On multiple occasions Moses, Nehemiah, Job, and David all talked about how awesome and mighty and powerful God is. And then to think that this awesome God takes time to be individually concerned with each one of us...wow!

Have a great Sabbath!
