"We shall individually be held responsible for doing one jot less than we have ability to do...But when we give ourselves wholly to God, and in our work follow His directions, He makes Himself responsible for its accomplishment. He would not have us conjecture as to the success of our honest endeavors. Not once should we even think of failure. We are to cooperate with One who knows no failure." ~Messages to Young People, p. 309

Part 4: Flying Can't Be Normal, Right?!?

Welcome to my fourth post on our California trip! In this last post I'll cover the last day of vacation, when we flew from Northern California alllllllllllllllllll the way back to Tennessee.

The day we flew out to California everything had gone according to schedule. Everything worked, the planes, and all our connections were made on time. Maybe since I don't fly a lot in the real world, I was lulled into not realizing how, um, EXCITING flying can become....

I woke up at 5:30 AM, Pacific Standard Time. By 7:00 we were all ready to go and my grandfather and aunt drove us the 3 hours to Sacramento. So they did their job just awesome. So we were at Sacramento Int'l Airport by 10:00 AM, and through security half hour later.

When we got to the airport we looked on the big, constantly-changing Departure/Arrival boards, and they said that our flight was 70 minutes late! Instead of departing at 11:50 AM, the new departure time was 1:00 PM! That would not have been a problem except that DFW was not our final destination; Tennessee was. We realized that with the delay we would miss our connecting flight. And how do we get four people, soon, to Tennessee, all together? See, we only had an hour layover in DFW. And now with an hour delay... The bad thing was that our connecting flight was leaving, on time, at 6:15 PM CST. And with the delay our first flight was getting INTO DFW at 6:30 PM. Well, we got through security and a few calls and many prayers later, we were able to all book a later flight to our home state.

^^If I don't remember anything else about flying safely, it SHOULD be this... ;D

SO! BREATHE! By 6:35 we were at DFW. We get off the plane, and am about to use the restroom when we realized that our original, connecting flight was delayed, too! FOR AN HOUR! So Mom hurriedly got us booked on this flight again, we used the restroom, did a 180, and got back on the same plane, which took us to Tennessee! :D :D I know God had his hand in this situation. It was just too many "coincidences" to believe He wasn't involved.

Of course I enjoyed taking photos. The photo (above) is of a plane in a gate next to us in DFW. Mid flight on our first flight, we went through some really cool cloud formations! Below are some photos.

So God brought us safely to Tennessee. But He wasn't done yet! When we got out of the airport to call for a shuttle to our motel, we found one waiting at the curb, just for us! ;) Now what's that Bible verse?

"...for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." ~Matthew 6:8

We got to our motel about 9:50pm, EST. The next day we drove back home. All in all, it was a GREAT vacation, I will never forget it! I got to see my grandparents, I got to re-acquaint myself with my relatives, AND I got to record some awesome interviews! :D
