"We shall individually be held responsible for doing one jot less than we have ability to do...But when we give ourselves wholly to God, and in our work follow His directions, He makes Himself responsible for its accomplishment. He would not have us conjecture as to the success of our honest endeavors. Not once should we even think of failure. We are to cooperate with One who knows no failure." ~Messages to Young People, p. 309

Blogging Through The Books of Samuel: 1 Samuel 18

Note: as most of you have probably noticed, there has been an unexcused absence in my daily devotionals for a while now. That is due to my school schedule, which is a lot busier than I had first thought. Due to that factor, I will not be able to continue writing daily devotionals. I will try to semi-regularly finish writing the devotionals for 1 Samuel, but after that I will not be writing about 2 Samuel. I am sorry for this change. However, I will continue to write my weekly devotionals!

Scripture:

"In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him." ~1 Samuel 18:14

Observation:

After slaying the giant, Saul drafted David into his army. In particular, Saul put him in charge of the army. Since God was with David, David had great success. But Saul became jealous of David's God-given success, and tried to kill him several times. But because David did right in the eyes of God, God protected David and honored him.

Application:

Today's Scripture verse talks about the success that God gave David. In my opinion, the big lesson to be learned here is that if we do what God says and honor him, he will honor us. Big-time. As you go through today, remember that God honors those who honor him!

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you so much for letting me read this Bible chapter today. Help me to remember these lessons, and to honor and uphold you in all that I do today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
