"We shall individually be held responsible for doing one jot less than we have ability to do...But when we give ourselves wholly to God, and in our work follow His directions, He makes Himself responsible for its accomplishment. He would not have us conjecture as to the success of our honest endeavors. Not once should we even think of failure. We are to cooperate with One who knows no failure." ~Messages to Young People, p. 309

Three Days, Part 1

Most of us know that Jesus was in the tomb for three days. But did you know that Jesus in the tomb wasn't the only time that three days was mentioned in the Bible? I didn't either, until I did some research! Following are some more "three days" in the Bible:

  • Pharaoh threw both his baker and cupbearer into prison. Both had dreams, which Joseph explained. Three days figured prominently in these servants' dreams. Learn more in Genesis 40.
  • When Joseph had risen to power in Egypt, his brothers came to him asking for food. First, Joseph imprisoned them all for three days. See Genesis 42.
  • During the ninth plague, the Egyptians were trapped in darkness for three days. Look up Exodus 10 for more.
  • After the Red Sea crossing, the Israelites wandered for three days in the wilderness before finding water. Look up Exodus 15 for the full story.
  • Hobab the Midianite traveled with the Israelites for three days to find suitable camping grounds. Who in the world is Hobab? Check out Numbers 10 for the fully scoop!
  • God told the Israelites to prepare three days for the Jordan River crossing. See Joshua 1.
  • Rahab advised the two Israelite spies to hide in the mountains three days before returning to their camp. Read Joshua 2 for all the details!
Many more "three days" are recorded in the Bible. Tune in next week to learn some more!
